About the Position

The Junior Communications Officer (Events and Visibility) will contribute to raising the organisation’s profile and enhancing its resource mobilization capacity by supporting and coordinating external initiatives (Speaking opportunities, trainings and workshops, gatherings,…) and developing communications friendly content to advance philanthropy and fundraising efforts. This hybrid role bridges external communications and donor engagement, ensuring CIVIC’s name and brand are increasingly known across audiences, primarily donors and supporters.


The ideal candidate will be a junior and versatile project and/or coordination officer with an understanding of humanitarian issues, and demonstratable outward facing responsibilities.


This is a part time role (60%) split as follows:

  • 30% Events/Project support
  • 30% Developing Communications & Fundraising materials


Key responsibilities

Events & Special Projects Support (30%)

  • Lead the logistical and administrative coordination of CIVIC events in Geneva and other locations (venue liaison, invitations, registration, materials, run-of-show, and follow-up)..
  • Lead the visibility and communications planning for public
    events, including social media promotion, photography and video coordination, email outreach, and post-event communications, media outreach when relevant.
  • Track and analyze event engagement and visibility metrics (attendance, media coverage, social media reach, audience feedback), and prepare brief reports highlighting impact and lessons learned.
  • Support the planning and promotion of donor events and fundraising initiatives in coordination with relevant teams.
  • Contribute to engagement and/or communications campaigns.
  • Liaise with country communications focal points to identify, develop, and amplify stories showcasing CIVIC’s field impact and community perspectives.
  • Maintain institutional memory related to events and visibility by regularly updating
    trackers, databases, and shared documentation.


Comms & Philanthropy Materials Communications (30%)

  • Customise
    and edit donor-facing content, including success stories, impact narratives, fundraising appeals, and stewardship reports.
  • Support the development of communication materials for major donors, foundations, and partners (e.g., brochures, presentations, web content).
  • Ensure consistency of branding, tone and key messagingacross philanthropy-related materials.
  • Maintain and update a database of donor communications and key messaging documents.



Requirements/Qualifications



Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, international affairs, or related field.
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience (including internships) in project and/or event coordination & support
  • Experience in a non-profit or international organization or non-governmental organization
  • Good writing, editing, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English and French
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines and work collaboratively across time zones and cultures.

Desired

  • Knowledge of the following tools: Zoom, MS Teams, Slack, Sharepoint, Mentimeter or Kahoot, Canva
  • Knowledge of conflict sensitivity and ethical storytelling principles.

Compensation: 3869 CHF per year
