Within the Economist group, we are in a fortunate position, with a thriving B2C circulation business and a growing B2B business across media, content, events, subscriptions, and consulting.

To enable this, The Economist Group has a global implementation of Salesforce Sales, Service, and Experience clouds that support both our B2B Business Units in their sales functions and our B2C customers in accessing their accounts and managing their subscriptions.

The Salesforce Engineer 2 will be based in India/Indonesia and will support the expansion of our Salesforce capabilities. This role requires a highly technical individual with a deep understanding of Salesforce coding and architecture. You will work on projects from requirements gathering through architecture, design, and implementation. Responsibilities will include Salesforce configuration and development (Apex and LWCs), as well as system maintenance and customization to support business requirements.

This is an exciting role that will allow the successful candidate to gain exposure to multiple Salesforce Clouds and be part of a dynamic team, interacting with stakeholders across departments and levels.

How you will contribute:

  • Proactively interact with stakeholders to understand business requirements and subsequently translate them into highly technical specifications and architectural designs;
  • Manage delivery of functional and technical solutions and system integrations, including testing strategy and execution;
  • Ensure proposed technical solutions runs with efficiency and meets Salesforce coding and security best practices, with code coverage to be at 90%+;
  • Manage existing and build new integrations between Salesforce and other applications;
  • Perform and execute functional testing;
  • Work with business colleagues to agree and gain user acceptance;
  • Create and keep Salesforce-related technical documents and training materials up-to-date;
  • Keep up-to-date with new Salesforce releases and promptly identify features which could add value to the Economist’s Salesforce users and those which will impact existing processes and require urgent attention as required;
  • Perform administrative tasks such as creating or updating fields, page layouts, flows, reports and dashboards and managing data using data loader or other tools.
  • Experience working in a product-led development environment, with a focus on quality and velocity to deliver our roadmap.

 

The ideal skills for this role are:

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).
  • At least Salesforce Application Architect, and Platform Developer II certifications.
  • 5-7 years of hands-on Salesforce development experience in APEX and LWC.
  • Extensive experience with Sales, Service and Experience Clouds.
  • Experience in designing data models that are able to support LDV scenarios.
  • Experience in building custom APIs within Salesforce.
  • Extensive experience with different Salesforce Integration capabilities.
  • Deep understanding on various integration patterns and has the right experience to recommend the best approach for the given scenario.
  • Experience in designing and optimising complex SOQL and SOSL queries.
  • Experience in creating custom Lightning Web Components (LWC).
  • Comfortable writing code using APEX Enterprise Design Pattern.
  • Point-and-click development within a Lightning environment.
  • Analysis and design through to successful implementation of Salesforce.com, including experience with Salesforce.com developer toolkit, including Apex Classes, Controllers, Triggers, Batch jobs, Queueable;
  • Ability to manage code coverage within the governance limit.
  • Ability to provide application users with technical and functional support.
  • A good understanding of the Salesforce data model, alongside designing future object definitions and relationships.
  • Exposure to Agile development methodologies and JIRA as a project management application.
  • Excellent teamwork with both clients and colleagues.
  • Comfortable working with AI tools to accelerate development
