We are seeking a proactive and collaborative Senior Organizer to join the Common Cause team in Minnesota. This role is critical in growing and diversifying our base of supporters, building partnerships, and driving civic engagement across the state. The Senior Organizer will also play a key role in coordinating grassroots actions, supporting policy advocacy efforts, and coordinating volunteers.
This is a full-time role reporting to the State Director and based in Minnesota with an expectation to travel around the state at least 2 days per week, with a maximum of 5 days a calendar week during the legislative session, and peak summer engagement season. We hope our new Senior Organizer will start in January.
Responsibilities
Grow, diversify, and engage supporters
· Draft plans for and implement engaging, nonpartisan education and outreach activities to expand awareness of our work and build people power in Minnesota
· Present on behalf of Common Cause at coalition meetings and other events
· Support the planning and facilitation of coalition meetings and events
· Proactively build and maintain relationships with community partners and members, including recruiting and engaging with volunteers to build a core team of volunteer-leaders
· Collaborate with coalition partners to coordinate grassroots actions and advance campaigns
· Draft compelling communications for state-level campaigns in collaboration with teammates
· Coordinate communications on social media, websites, and email to ensure messaging aligns with our brand and values
· Assist in media relations efforts, including contributing to press materials and supporting media outreach strategies
· Engage members through digital communications (email, social media, etc.)
· Collaborate with other state staff to coordinate and manage projects and tasks within the election protection program
· Recruit, train, coordinate and mentor interns and volunteers to support our work
Support our research, policy and advocacy work
· Support research and advocacy efforts on democracy issues, such as voting rights, ethics, and money in politics
· Monitor legislative developments and identify trends and opportunities on our core issues at the state, county, and municipal levels
· Track bills relevant to our issue areas during legislative session
· Draft and coordinate resources to support public comment and testimony on key legislation
· Execute advocacy and lobbying strategies
Support fundraising and advisory board management
·Support the Executive Director and other staff in fundraising efforts, including donor cultivation, grant support, and reporting for foundations and major donors
·Assist with administrative tasks for the state advisory board, including meeting coordination, logistics, and preparation of materials
