About the team

The project team will support CWASA to enhance safe water access in Chattogram through three core areas: expanding inclusive water services, enhancing utility performance and strengthening the enabling environment. Key interventions include extending piped water networks, improving water quality monitoring, reducing system losses and introducing innovations like digital metering and mobile apps. The team also facilitates policy advocacy and knowledge sharing to replicate best practices and influence sector strategies.

The team will be a blend of technical, administrative and community engagement roles, design to deliver high-impact results while maintaining alignment with WaterAid’s organizational standards and strategic priorities.

About the role

The Site Engineer will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day implementation of infrastructure activities at project sites under the Utility Strengthening Project. This includes supervising contractors, ensuring adherence to technical specifications, monitoring construction progress, and maintaining quality assurance standards. The role requires close coordination with field teams, contractors, and local stakeholders to ensure timely and compliant delivery of infrastructure components. The Site Engineer will report to the Specialist Engineer and contribute to WaterAid’s commitment to delivering safe, sustainable, and inclusive WASH infrastructure.

In this role, you will:

  • Monitor and supervise daily construction activities to ensure compliance with design, safety, quality, and material standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and quality checks, identifying and reporting deviations for corrective action.
  • Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, local authorities, and community representatives to ensure smooth project implementation and community engagement.
  • Maintain accurate site records, including labor, materials, and progress, and support documentation with photos and logs.
  • Prepare and submit weekly progress reports and assist in preparing completion and handover documentation.


The responsibilities outlined above may be subject to periodic review and revision in consultation with the line manager.

To be successful, you will need:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.

Experience: At least 03 years of relevant experience in site supervision, infrastructure implementation, or construction management.

Skill, Knowledge and Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of construction practices, safety protocols, and quality assurance.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and basic engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD) is an asset.
  • Willingness to work in field settings and travel frequently within Chattogram.
  • Familiarity with the local language or dialect of Chattogram would be considered an asset.
