BACKGROUND

IsraAID is an Israel-based non-governmental organization that was founded in 2001 and has, since its inception, worked in emergency and long-term development settings in over 55 countries. IsraAID’s mission is to support people affected by humanitarian crises by partnering with local communities around the world to provide urgent aid, assist recovery, and reduce the risk of future disasters.

We are therefore seeking experienced, self-motivated, highly competent individuals with exemplary ethical conduct to join the IsraAID SSD team as a Social Worker.

Job PURPOSE

The Social Worker will provide direct psychosocial support, case management, and community-based interventions to vulnerable individuals and groups, including individuals of violence and children at risk. The role aims to improve the well-being and protection outcomes of affected populations by facilitating access to essential services and strengthening social support mechanisms in Renk to join our South Sudan Program as a Social Worker to be based in Renk.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Conduct assessments of individuals and families to identify social, protection, and psychosocial needs.
  • Provide case management and follow-up services, including counselling, referrals, and family tracing/reunification where applicable.
  • Facilitate community awareness and sensitization sessions on integrated protection, gender-based violence (GBV), child rights, and psychosocial wellbeing.
  • Support and strengthen community-based protection and referral mechanisms.
  • Assist parents/caregivers, women, and adolescent girls with referral options to the communities and service providers, and resources.
  • Collaborate with health, WASH, protection, education, and other sectors colleagues to ensure integrated service delivery.
  • Participate in coordination meetings with local authorities, NGOs, and community stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate case records and related statistical data, demonstrating knowledge of various clients’/disclosures information and software programs, and adhering to confidentiality
  • Submit accurate monthly and quarterly reports to the line Manager, including data prepared for the 5W and Kobo report system.
  • Developing a plan of action to improve the client’s/disclosure’s well-being through recovery processes.
  • Planning regular follow-ups to assess progress and additional needs with respect to case management package.
  • Contribute to program monitoring, evaluation, learning, and reporting requirements.
  • Promote social cohesion and resilience among vulnerable groups.
  • Uphold humanitarian principles, confidentiality, and ethics in all interactions, including a survivor-centred approach.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the line manager or administrator

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

 

  • The position requires a holder of a BA degree in Social Studies or a related field with at least 3 years of working experience with a community approach and community-based interventions

 

  • Experience in community capacity building, prevention, and response in a humanitarian context.

 

  • Child Protection Prevention and Response programming is an added value.

 

  • Must be neutral enough to work with different communities.

 

  • Good communication in written and verbal in English. Able to speak local Arabic is an added value.
