We are therefore seeking experienced, self-motivated, highly competent individuals with exemplary ethical conduct to fill the position of WASH Officer based in Juba.



About The Position

 

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Officer to join our team to implement our activities in Juba, South Sudan. The successful candidate will play a key role in planning, implementing, and monitoring WASH projects to ensure that Refugees, internally displaced population and host communities have access to adequate quantities of safe drinking water, and to improved sanitation facilities, as well as they maintain safe hygiene and sanitation practice.

Detailed responsibilities:

  • Support the Programs Manager and Project Officer in the coordination of the WASH Technical activities according to strategy, proposals, budgets, and plans.
  • Proactively support all WASH projects in country through all the components of the project cycle providing WASH technical support to programs manager
  • Assist the WASH Team in the development of technical guidelines and
  • In charge of development of Bill of Quantity (B.O.Q) and Engineering designs in relation to project needs, and supervise all WASH construction, rehabilitation or installation activities.
  • Work closely with the WASH Team to promote timely planning and implementation of all WASH field activities as planned.
  • Provide full support to WASH Team in maintaining regular contact with relevant
  • Assist in the compilation of periodic WASH Technical reports, program documents, activities, forecast and expenditures.

 

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

  • Work with the Project Officer to ensure appropriate, timely and accurate data collection against agreed indicators to enable both internal and external reporting
  • Lead discussions with communities and beneficiaries on program design and project review
  • Conduct periodic reviews and report to the WASH Team on any obstacles and recommend mitigation measures.

 

 

 

Essential skills, knowledge, and competencies



Essential Requirements



  • MUST BE A SOUTH SUDANESE NATIONAL
  • Fluency in English is a must.
  • A degree in water supply engineering, civil engineering, hydrology, or similar field is required. A masters/ postgraduate degree in any of these fields would be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 3 years of demonstrated professional experience in WASH programmes in similar contexts is required.An experience in integrated programming will be an added advantage.
  • Previous proved working experience in refugee settlements and Internal displaced person camps will be an advantage.

  • Construction and Infrastructure Development: Understanding the principles of constructing durable, resilient, and safe WASH infrastructure, including knowledge of materials, construction methods, and the ability to adapt them to the needs of a disaster-stricken area or a community in need.
  • Adaptability and Problem-Solving: The capacity to adapt to rapidly changing situations and find innovative solutions to complex challenges.
  • Cultural Sensitiveness and Cross-Cultural Communication:Proficiency in communicating effectively across different cultures and languages. This skill ensures respectful, efficient, and effective engagement with local communities, stakeholders, and team members from diverse backgrounds.
